Rowling Calls for Dismissal of Plagiarism Case

J.K. Rowling, author of the popular Harry Potter children’s books, has issued a statement that the plagiarism charges filed against her by the estate of Adrian Jacobs are absurd.

Jacobs was the author of a book titled “The Adventures of Willy the Wizard—No 1 Livid Land,” which was written in 1987. His estate has filed charges against Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and against Rowling personally.

Patterson Secures Comics Deal

Bestselling author James Patterson has announced a deal for the adaptation of two of his books into comics. “Witch & Wizard” and “The Murder of King Tut” will both be made into comic series that will be published by IDW Publishing. Each of these series will consist of five issues, and will be made into graphic novels in addition to the comics.

Berlin Film Festival Celebrates 60 Years

The 60th annual Berlin film festival will be missing one key element, its founder Roman Polanski. Polanski is under house arrest while fighting extradition to the US on charges that he had sex with a 13-year-old girl over 30 years ago.
