In The News: Amy Winehouse, Nicole Richie, Michael Douglas, Michael Jackson, Shia LaBeouf

Amy Winehouse’s boyfriend has been cheating on her for months, it has been claimed.

Reg Traviss’ ex-girlfriend, burlesque dancer Raven – who he was pictured holding hands with last week – says she has continued sleeping with the filmmaker throughout his four-month romance with the troubled singer, except for a brief split. Raven said: “I’ve spent pretty much every day with him. I’m surprised we haven’t been spotted together before.

“When Amy and Reg were first pictured together, he called to warn me. He said Amy had grabbed his hand as they left a restaurant, but they were just friends.”

The 25-year-old blonde called a halt to her relationship with Reg in July after realising he was more than just friends with the singer, but they reconciled on August 5 after he bombarded her with calls and messages.

Raven added: “He told me that he loved me, that he only wanted to be with me, have babies and get married. I believed him. He told me he had stopped talking to Amy. I was still in love with him so I agreed to give our relationship another go.”

However, after seeing pictures of the director with the singer last week, Raven ended their relationship for good. She told Grazia magazine: “I phoned Reg and asked if he had met with Amy after he’d run away from the pub. He denied it at first, but then finally told me he had. And the next day I saw pictures of them acting like a couple. I’ve ended things.”

The performer has now urged Amy to follow her lead and dump Reg. She added: “I can’t believe anything he says. I really feel for Amy as she’s obviously a vulnerable person. He’s going to break her heart. My advice to Amy would be that she ended it like I have.”

Nicole Richie’s life was turned around by Joel Madden.

The reformed party girl – who has children Harlow, two, and Sparrow, 11 months, with the Good Charlotte rocker – has delighted her father Lionel Richie with the way she has got herself back on the right path. Lionel said: “I think Joel had a lot to do with it, Joel’s an anchoring soul for Nicole. He came in the door once and said, ‘Mr. Richie, I just want to let you know I’ve got control of this.’ I was like, ‘No you don’t! Are you kidding me?’ But I think that was the start: she found somebody that would challenge her stuff. They are a great team and I love him very much.”

The legendary soul singer – who formally adopted Nicole when she was nine – admitted seeing his daughter go off the rails as her drinking and drug taking spiralled out of control was a “brutal” experience.

He added to Closer magazine: “It was brutal. You’re a parent so you’d like to just take them and put them in a basket and say: ‘I’ll protect you.’ But when they’re over 18 they get to walk out and you can’t keep them in a bubble. You have to sit and kind of watch it, because there’s nothing you can do.”

However, the ‘Hello’ hitmaker is thrilled with how well the designer has taken to motherhood.
He said: “Nicole turned into a mom! She’s done a great job, I’m really proud of her. She grabbed the bull by the horns and turned it around.”

Michael Douglas has vowed to “beat” throat cancer.

The ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ actor – who has two children Dylan, 10, and seven-year-old Carys with wife Catherine Zeta Jones, as well as 31-year-old Cameron with former spouse Diandra – was diagnosed with a tumour in his throat last month and is now set to undergo eight weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the hope of ridding his body of the disease but remains positive about his prognosis.

The 65-year-old star told People magazine: “I’ll beat this.”

While doctors expect the Oscar-winning actor to make a full recovery, medical experts have warned he may never act again, as the aggressive combination of radiation and chemotherapy could result in him losing his voice.

Dr. Lawrence Tena, a physician in the department of radiation and oncology at the Beth Israel Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York City, recently explained: “When a patient is getting radiation and chemotherapy combined, they typically have an advanced stage of cancer. Sixty to 70 percent of patients, even with advanced cancers, survive.”

However if the procedures fail to work, Michael will have to undergo a full or partial laryngectomy, which could leave him with a changed voice, or even no voice at all.

Michael Jackson’s former landlord is suing his estate.

Aner Iglesias – who owned the Las Vegas home the late ‘Thriller’ hitmaker rented between 2008 and 2009 – is reportedly filing a lawsuit against the Michael Jackson estate, claiming he never was compensated for the $234,000 worth of damage the singer allegedly caused while living in the property with his three children, Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12 and eight-year-old Prince Michael II, who is known as Blanket.

According to gossip website TMZ, the landlord had already filed a creditors claim with those looking after the King of Pop’s finances following his death from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009.

However, he claims he never received the damages from administrators and has decided to file the suit with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Legal documents state Michael – who was 50 at the time of his death – damaged both the exterior and the interior of the property, as well as causing problems with the internal phone and alarm system.

The 1.7-acre compound was the late singer’s last residence in Las Vegas and boasted a chapel, maid’s quarters, four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms and an 8,500 square foot basement, which the Grammy Award-winner used as a studio and place to store his book and art collections. Aner put the property on the market for $12.8 million in February.

Shia LaBeouf is the “best value” actor in Hollywood.
The star – who has featured in ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ and the third film in the ‘Transformers’ franchise during this year alone – represents the best value for money in the film industry for the second year running, a new list compiled by Forbes magazine has revealed.

According to the study of stars who offer the most “bang for the buck”, the 24-year-old actor generates an estimated $81 for every dollar he is paid.

To compile the list, the media magazine assessed 36 of the highest earners in Hollywood who have starred in at least three major film releases over the past five years.

The actors’ earnings were then added to worldwide box office and home video sales and subtracted from the movie’s overall budget.
With ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ notching up a total of $836 million and $787 million respectively in the past two years, Shia was found to deliver a better financial return than any other actor in the industry.

Anne Hathaway came in second place largely thanks to the worldwide success of Tim Burton’s remake of ‘Alice in Wonderland’, bringing in around $64 per dollar, just a few dollars more than ‘Harry Potter’ actor Daniel Radcliffe, whose figure came in at $61. Robert Downey Jr. and Cate Blanchett were placed fourth and fifth, generating $33 and $27 per dollar respectively. Jenifer Aniston, Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Nicholas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker rounded up the top 10.

That completes our look at the day’s entertainment news recap.
